What is a Sale with Right of Redemption?
A Sale with Right of Redemption is a legal financing arrangement that allows property owners to use their title deed as collateral to obtain funds for a fixed period, ranging from 1 to 10 years. Once the agreement is completed at the Land Office, ownership rights to the title deed are temporarily transferred to the investor or purchaser under the contract.
The property owner may continue to live in and use the property throughout the contract period and can redeem the title deed by repaying the agreed amount. If the property is not redeemed within the specified period, ownership will legally transfer to the purchaser under the agreement.
The investor’s return comes in the form of interest, typically ranging from 9% to 15% per year.
